ON THE BAYOU...

TRINITY

Note: Aline composed this short poem some time ago. A member of the family read it at her funeral.

I.

I kneel not in the street to pray
That all may see and say,
“She prays.”
My mind contains with dignity
My deep communion with my Lord.

II.

My heart houses my steadfast love
And concern for the many who depend on me
And are mine.
My hands and wisdom work to sustain them,
More, when I cannot condone
Their deeds.

III.

A private person, I prefer to go unsung
Until I go forth from this plane.
When my days and nights on Earth are done
My time here will crystallize
Into pure jewels and become me,
And my gift, myself, will be pleasing
Unto God.
