TITLE SUCRE À LA CRÈME À SIMONE
(pronounced: sucre ah la crem ah see-muhn)
HISTORY This recipe is one from the Madawaska Historial Society's REUNION FAMILIES' FAVORITE RECIPES. Copies of the cookbook may be ordered directly from the Historical Society, Madawaska, Maine 04756. This recipe is a Hebert Family Reunion recipe which comes from Simone Ringuette Hebert. 
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup medium cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • chopped walnuts
  • 3 cup brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 tablespoon butter
  • pinch of salt
PREPARATION Combine the sugar with cream and boil on a medium heat until balls form when tested in cold water. Remove from heat and stir, adding the rest of the ingredients. Stir until fairly thick and sugar starts to form around sides of pan. Pour into baking dish and cool. Cut in desired size and store in a covered container. Will keep well.
