NOTRE CUISINE ACADIENNE...

TITLE BLANC MANGE, LEONIE'S 
(pronounced: blahn mahnje, the 'n'  in both words is almost silent.)
HISTORY This recipe is one from the Madawaska Historial Society's REUNION FAMILIES' FAVORITE RECIPES. Copies of the cookbook may be ordered directly from the Historical Society, Madawaska, Maine 04756. This recipe is a Hebert Family Reunion recipe which comes from Leonie Lagasse Michaud Hebert. 
INGREDIENTS
  • Leftover bread or cake or cookies
  • 4 cup milk
  • 5 tablespoon cold milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 5 tablespoon cornstarch
PREPARATION Combine leftover cake, cookies and bread, and crumble. Heat the 4 cups of milk and add vanilla, salt and sugar. Make a paste with cornstarch and 5 tablespoons cold milk; and add to boiling mix. When thick enough, pour over the crumbled ingredients and pour into serving dishes. Top with favorite jam, maple syrup or any other sweet treat.
